Very nice,
the top is a god muted black, perhaps rub the edge of a lead pencil to sides of the magazine, I imagine these received a bit of wear, and would add both a touch of life and some contrast to the piece.

Maybe photographs against a not so dark background (a mid blue or a grey) as I think the camera is flattening a lot of subtle details on your painting....

I like the face, no make up makes sense, touch of gloss to the eyes, perhaps?

Good work overall, cheers

Jamie

I agree with everything Jamie has said above.
That's alot of black to deal with and you did a good job of it. A simple paint scheme can sometimes be harder to manage than a fancy one because there is nowhere to hide... again, well done.
The face looks good... not over done, very natural.

Over all, you've done a good job on this piece... very effective.

What's next?

Nice work Steve, it was great to see it in person at the show!! Black is the scariest colour for me to paint, and this feels well executed!

Steve,
Nice figure. It's really cool when you get to see one of these in person. I had a great time in Chicago. Hope you can make Atlanta. Keep your powder dry!
