Hello PF friends,

I'd like to share my recent work here as well - Hannibal Barca 1:10 bust from Nutsplanet. The sculpt is really good and it is a pleasant experience for me to paint it.

In addition to the pictures of the finished work, I'd also like to share my responses to two questions that I have been asked a few times online these days.

Q: What color receipt do you use for painting the face?
A: The face was painted using acrylics. For this bust, the base color of the face is a mix of Brown Sand and Mahogany Brown (I cannot remember the exact ratio of the color mix because I usually mix colors flexibly on the fly, the ratio of this base color is approximately at 1:1) plus a bit of Oliver Drab. Shadows colors were made by adding Mahogany and Oliver Drab to the base color gradually. Highlight colors were made by adding Brown Sand and then Basic Skintone to the base color gradually and also Basic skintone + base color + sky blue. In extreme highlight areas (very small), I use Basic Skintone + white. Additionally, colors like Red, Old Rose, Violet Purple and English Uniform were used in mid tone or shadow areas and applied as glaze (very diluted). All these colors in this case are from Vallejo Acrylics.

Q: What is your way of creating the textures on the skin?
A: In order to create the feel of skin texture, try to use more "stippling" or "dotting" motions to apply your colors with the tip of your brush, especially in the highlight and mid tone areas. This will create the skin texture and make the skin look more real than using smooth blending only. If the texture effect on skin becomes too stark, you can always soften it by using glaze as needed.

Hope you like it. Any feedback, comments or questions are truly welcome. Thanks a lot!

Very well done.............Everything blends very well together;...was almost sold on this piece but the box art for the leopard skin made it look too busy and was looking for options regarding the pelt, but your paint job makes it work.
Keep up the good work..............Wayne
