some corrections by drawing, guideline for me as usual I notice...
the filosofy behind this is that I can get carried away when working for long at the same subject. I'd rather choose to create a bit of distance from my work.
Besides that it's really handy to have a checklist next to my sculpt.

Rene,
For what it's worth.......Sometimes you have to throw away all the technical stuff and go back to mental image and allow your subscious to take over.(In other words,don't think so much).From what I saw you were right there,very close.Maybe let it rest a while ,then come back and you will SEE.............again...for what it's worth............Regards,

I think it's very worthy to have a nice balance between technical and mental stuff.
Input is mentally in my case and most of my preparations are caricatures.
however, to have good performances in the likenesses I strive for I do depend on techniques.
But it's true, also I mentioned before having a rest sometimes is better.
In the drawings themselves I also find a piece of mind.
though I am interested in reactions from other sculptors that also use drawing techniques to keep up performance in their sculpts.

Great, you fixed the eyes, and that obviously improved likenes - I like it very much already !!!

in general, he has a lot of different mimics that change his jawsection ( he likes doing this and explains all his funny wrinkles too )
I want him to look seriously, like the silent, tensed moment in the movie where he cracks Lapadites mind ( for that matter Lapadite is also very interesting as a subject to sculpt as a crying, broken man)
maybe some reduction sides of head ( transition sides into cheek), making eyes a bit tighter.
