Both will be available at Euro over the weekend from the Model Display Products stand and from the website shortly after the weekend..

Next one will be a bust of a Kiwi
Nice pieces but realy what is the sales expectation for this kind of bust ?
I can understand if you try to sale them painted as souvenir at a D&D Live . For me busts are for souvenir shop like snow-ball were/are .
In Watermoo they sell far more bust of Napoleon or Wellington ( mass production from Chine ) then a good figure .
Or I"m completely wrong and today the figures markett is oriented busts; if so, be my guest and continue that way .

I find it very strange that you ask this question of me and compare the busts to that of the cheap tat sold to the tourist market???

Have a look through the new figure releases of other manufacturers (not just me) and you will see that the market for busts is just as in demand as the market for figures and you even have Young Miniatures that sell nothing but busts. OK most busts on the market these days are military oriented and not fantasy or science fiction but these other manufacturers also have fantasy/science fiction pieces in their ranges so why should the fact that I choose to produce some fantasy style busts be an issue???

Your comment reminds me of somebodies comment at a show recently, that person being an armour modeller hated figures with a passion and believed they shouldn't have a competition class because it took too long to judge!! We are all in the same hobby at the end of the day we like to paint so whether it is be it planes, trains, armour, figures or whatever we can all learn from each other which is one of the things I like about the hobby in general go to any show here in the UK and you will find a class in the competition for busts which is just as popular as that for figures, maybe it is not so in Europe?

So I find it really strange that some people have a hate for fantasy and science fiction as if it is some sort of disease. To me there is a limit to the number of Germans, knights, crusaders and Romans so why not let your imagination flow with something different and without the limits imposed by the actual number of buttons that should be on a uniform or the type of buckle used at the time or the number of rivets on a tank or plane???

Dude I think you're completely off on this. Busts are a major part of the mini market now and in the fantasy genre growing more popular and I wish there were more sci-fi busts. Check out the latest release section in Portal magazine and you'll see how many companies are releasing them.

Martyn. I think I need "some" of your figures for my shop. They are great. I will contact you after Euro.

BTW @ Mirofsoft: If you had a look on the new figures section of this forum you will find many, many busts and the "old gnome" from Martyn was in my shop a really great success. I just painting one of them

And I have seen that you have some of the Fort Duquesne Samurai Bust. So I did not understand your thread

They both look great Martyn, the drawf is a great little character, I don't see why people have to knock quality sculpting such as this, be it a full figure or a bust, both formats belong within our figure modelling world (so don't worry about it mate & remember to save me a drawf for Euro;))
Cheers
Jimbo

I had a look at the dwarf last Thursday, and really is a lovely piece.
They're both very well done.
Have you thought about doing range of WW2 Germans, they may sell?;)

I'm kinda baffled about whats not to like about the dwarf myself it's a dwarf with a beard and a gem seems about right to me!

Hold on all of you fiends
The Dwarf is extremly good sculpt, painting and so on ..
I'm just surprised, reading some comment above, that the figures' world seems now so attracted by busts, if this is right continue producing them, you'r welcome .
It's just something that goes above my head . I'm not going to buy any bust .
And if I have some Duquesne in my drawers, it's just because I received them ( already painted ) +circa 20 from some other makers, still they are in my drawers, I have absolutely no attraction for busts .
I try to sell them every time there is a second hand markett in my street . But again, if you like that , it's fine with me .

And by the way for War Griffon
I read SF and fantasy since almost 50 years and must have 2000 books in this genre and lot of commercial figures from Conan, Lost , Matrix , Spawn , Manga, Marvel and DC Comics heroes, etc... and play D&D since almost 40 years, I bought the first rules books at game Workshop when they had only a 10m² shop in London .
But this only one facet of what I like . I read lot of classics , thriller, etc .. I have 2 guitars and I like to play on it... I like movies, series and computer games since I bought my first one; a ZX80 ... I like to travell , visiting castles, churches, museum ( any kind )... I cook a lot, I like good wines from Burgundy and.. and...
Oh! yes I like figures military or not, but was never attracted by busts .
If there is now a large markett for busts, I wish you success in satisfying the demand .

Hi ya Mirosoft ,

Now strange that it is that I only do busts ...and I rather like them ....but I must agree with Helms and Jimbo's comment ...backpeddalling or what ...do you own a bike ???
We all now know you like fine wines and cooking ...well I LOVE BUSTS .......suject matter is not relevant ..its quality that counts ...I have fantasy in my GA....including ... (which isn't military...shock eh )

This is a hobby so lets all enjoy it ...whatever we choose to do ..........off to paint a bust

Both Harriet and the Gem Smith are now up on the website following a successful Euro-Militaire, we talked to loads of people and in general had a great time although my poor feet won't agree with me and I did feel like I was going to lose my voice on Saturday evening!!

The Gem Smith was well received and Harriet got a highly commended for the sculptor and painter so a very well done to Rob and Charlie :)
We re-took the photos of the Gem Smith so I hope you like the new ones just as much...
