Has the arse has dropped out of the kit trading market?

Speaking for myself, I still browse the trade list on a regular basis, but there just hasn't been anything that grabs my fancy and the kits that do are often offered to ship only in the seller's country. I have sold a few figures and purchased several older kits here on PF over the years and never had a problem. I will continue to buy older kits that I'm looking for when I can and if new releases don't cut into the budget.

You try telling my wife the arse has fell out of the second hand market and she would punch you square between the eyes.

I recently purchased 3 kits from F Troop - Rick in the US. Thanks Rick I have a little piece that can now come to life. I suppose it's all a matter of trust, Rick sent the kits and would not accept payment until they arrived (I usually pay up front). They arrived and I gladly paid him via family and friends and was happy to pay the small paypal charge for the conversion. The first time Rick and I have done business.

As for posting, it takes no more effort posting to other countries than in your own, so I agree with Gary on that one.

May be some of those coveted kits that you long for are also coveted by others and their owners, and the one's you want to sell from that impulse buy are not! Someone will always buy them it's just a matter of price.:D
cheers

I used to be a regular customer on eBay but with the market swamped with knockoffs from China and Russia, I've given up even looking. I still buy periodically from members here on PF but shipping has sometimes been the determine factor. Same goes for selling. I have quite a large amount of figures I will never get to but the cost of shipping here in Canada has almost become so expensive to the point I would be given the kits away.

I have sold and shipped hundreds of figures and busts to just about every remote part of the world, never had a problem with delivery or payment or had anything go missing, most transactions been done right here on the forum. I always ask the buyer to PM me their FULL postal address and reply once the parcel is ready to take to the post office confirming the postal details they sent me.

It is no different or difficult sending an item outside the UK than sending it locally.

Cheers
Tommi

Its strange but even if you have something that's NIB people still think they should get it for 1/3 - 1/4 of the price because your not a shop.
When I want something I cant find it or someone wants 3-4 times what its worth when it was bought new.
I think there is just more stuff around new and old. The hard part is when a new Meng tank comes out everyone wants it and the old top dog ends up at a swap meet for pennies. Reminds me back in the day when Dragon bought out their M1 tank the next swap meet the Tamiya M1 was everywhere and it was cheap as.

What might be happening is with the greyification of the hobby, most people have been around a long time and have accumulated a lot of stuff.

So therefore the need for more stuff is not what it was. Plus as well, if it was a popular figure in it's day, people have probably already done it.

Having said that, Chrisr is 100% right. Quality, like the old PM, Almond or Grieve will always sell.

I used to sell on Ebay but became totally pissed off with their fees and now only sell on PF-I've never had a problem with anyone on the forum but feel it is important to be sensible with pricing. I prefer to sell at a cost that reflects the value of the item less what I would have paid in Ebay fees, this means that instead of Ebay getting the fees a PF member gets a discount. As much of my grey army has been accumulated over several years I usually pitch my prices at cost. I find that I gain on some and lose on others, usually breaking even...no complaints so far.

Well one thing that you can be sure will happen is that the "experts" on the armour forums will be carping on about the ammo racks being fractionally too high up/low down, the dial sizes on the wireless set being wrong, or the driver's seat being eight scale inches too far forward/back in relation to the gear change levers! As sure as night follows day!!

I for one prefer to purchase from the original trader,
a, you have redress if it has slight problems,
b, it helps keep them afloat as without them we would have no hobby.

The only time I would purchase a second hand item was if the manufacture had closed down and I really wanted the item, and I knew the seller.

I have only I have thought about purchasing a second had piece, the seller was wanting silly money.

This may be a little more expensive but its piece of mind.
