Interesting. As Michael Caine would say: "Not a lot of people know that" (I certainly didn't, and neither apparently did all the others who had released Souter figures previously).

Hi Barrie,
Nice start to the figure, I like the additional ground work, and will look forward to seeing you progress with it. No problem about the replacement hand I know what it is like to loose/break a piece.
As for the Lieutenant/Captain information, like everyone else I thought he was a captain at the battle. But while I was doing the research I kept finding references to him being a Lieutenant. So after a little more digging I fond this article which clearly states his promotion to Captain in October 1842 the battle occurred in the January.

Not got much done lately. Almost got the flag round the waist done, made a start on the trousers but i think the tunic needs some more highlights.

Managed to grab a few more hours on this one. Started to do the face (in oils) still got quite a bit to do but would like your opinions to see if I am heading in the right direction.

As said above, got some more wip pics.
Face more or less done, more highlights needed on the hair/beard and touch up on the end of the nose.
Tunic and colours round the waist done.
Trousers done but the shading/highlighting not really showing in the pics.
Started work on the poshteen (oils) with the base colour on Raw Umber with some shading done in Vandyke Brown and a touch of Mars Black.
