I was sorely tempted to let itride but I've put a heck of a lot of work into this and as you say it would bug me forever.

Interesting you saying about building muscles on the armature. One of my favourite sculptors is Kev White from Hasslefree Minis, gaming minis I know but his detail is awesome. He basically builds a fully nude figure with all the detail, then clothes it. Seems like a lot of effort but just look at his figures, his method really works.
