Hello all
I thought i would try a scale a bit larger than my usual 35mm - 54mm comfort zone, which of course i am absolutely brilliant at (In my world) , not the best picture to send but i would be most grateful for any sage advice .

Hi Thomas,
I am not sure that I can offer any sage advice but would like to know; what size the head is and did you sculpt it yourself?
Glad that you are back to the hobby and hope that you are fully recovered.
Cheers,
Keith

Hi Thomas, I suspect that the lighting of the head has washed out much of the shading. That being said the head itself, Tamiya I think, doesn't give you much facial structure or detail to assist with highlights and shading. Even highly experienced painters would see it as a challenge to 'trick the eye' with this one. That being said it ain't half bad, the eyes being particularly good and would take very little tweaking to get a really good result. It would also be great to see the full figure much nearer completion as not many peoples work on heads can stand up to isolated scrutiny.
That looks like an interesting wee army creeping up behind.
Cheers
Derek

Thanks for your time and best wishes Keith.
The head is a 1/16 scale Tamiya German Tank Crewman which was at a nice pocket money price at my local model shop.
(Its great having a "Bricks and Mortar" shop in the town.)
I am really enjoying enjoying all the aspects of the hobby just now,a bit like a kid with a new toy.
Thanks again
Keith.
Thomas.

Hi Derek
Your comments were much appreciated.
As for the photo I took it at the end of that evening underneath a normal table lamp lighting source, and have since spent some dosh on a light box with a couple of little lights , which i am just waiting to arrive viva the post.
Even with this i can stil tell that as you mentioned the eyes could do with a bit more work on them Bucks Fizz were not wrong when they said "The camera never lies"!
I shall post some more pics as work progresses .
Oh and the wee army creeping up behind is some Zveda 1/72 Napoleonic Russian Hussars,I must confess to a little bit of Wargames fun every so often only horse and musket stuff.

Mince what? Meat or pie enquiring minds need to know
Pie fillings are a topic that may differ depending on which part of the world one is in.
For instance in Scotland lamb mince is a very popular filling and tastes even better washed down with a cup of hot Bovril at a footie match.
(Usually after a few light ales.)
I think you can get a curry flavored pie in some of the more exotic parts of the UK,but i dread to think of the content.
If a Scot say's "That's pure Mince by the way".Its not very good.
Hope that helps Helm.
Thanks Thomas.

Yeah we have curry flavoured pies and pasties down here in the Midlands but I've never been brave enough to eat one
