Help needed on attaching sword blade

Iv'e just purchased Jeff Shui's Coldstream Guard and while everything looks great, have seen a potential problem for me when assembling it. I have noticed that the blade has been cast separately from the grip and the hand around it. Now there is no pin and socket cast into the pieces which means 2 flat surfaces to join).
Does or has anyone come across this and manage to resolve it.

could you not cut a small notch in the grip for the blade to sit in

Yup... Small drill and a piece of fine wire usually does the trick.

thanks for the reponse guys, it seems by popular poll, micro drill (was hoping for something less fidley), I think if I cut a notch I may only get one attempt and then probably bugger it.

Only other thing is to use a smear of milliput/magisculpt but that will be damn fragile
