I tried the 'buy what you will paint' theory....bah humbug! Fortunately, the majority of my army was bought at 'I couldn't say no' prices:whistle: and I was also afraid of a figure going out of production......I picked up some Seil figures before they went out of business!

And Dee, when you buy your first double by accident, you'll make that spreadsheet;)

I'm like Roger, its not a good idea for the enemy to know what your strength is :cautious:. Looks like I have 2 squads. Oops! Is this a secure net:eek: ? Its not really like that folks, my wife knows whats filling the ranks. She bought me some of them! Of these I have 3 of the old Phoenix Follies that I'm thinking of selling;).

Paul.. your right... I have not done that YET... but afraid I will... so back to the spread sheet.
Also.. I am of the same thinking... get it now.. or it may not be there when you want it.

This is a great thread... I always thought it was JUST ME, what I find very amusing
is... how we purchase and when we do a kit count when our better half's aren't looking.
Very funny.

I'm addicted to buying kits! I tell myself that if I don't get it now production will stop or, if I wait, the molds will go bad and future castings of that kit will be crap! ANYTHING to convince myself that I NEED that kit now!

A few years ago i'd buy pieces just for the sake of it and have great ideas for them, until i woke up one day and realised i did'nt like half of the subjects i'd purchased and sold them on,i only have about 10 kits now in my grey army and i'm looking forward to painting all these in the future and i just keep it to that number now.
I hav'nt purchased anything since xmas which has to be a record for me,but i feel more in control now (y),i only buy pieces i'm 100% sure i definately know i'm going to paint.:)

P.S i forgot to mention, the wife runs the finance now,so i cant even get away with buying anything without her knowing :cry:

Steve.., do you own your own hobbystore?
Man, what a list.

I have about 20 to 25 figures. All different sizes or busts. Have primed 3 of them and 2 are the final phase.
I try to work on two figures at the same time, so I don't get bored of working on one figure.

I knew a guy who owned a hobbystore in The Netherlands, (unfortunatly he had to close his shop),
he had a saying: "When in doubt, always buy it".
I think that's what most of you do, I guess. o_O

Do I include the 5 or 6 figures that sit on shelves above my bench that I have started but in my heart I know I will never finish.
Martin

I probably have something like 40 unbuilt figures, another 20+ in various stages of assembly..
Only a few plastic kits though...all partially built ;)

I just wish I could paint faster than the releases come!

I'm one of those who paints and 'collects'. So I've got more figures than I'll ever be able to paint.
Mine weighs in at about 85 figures, including unfinished ones.
I'll have to thin them out one day but none jump out as volunteers to 'go over the top'.
Someone once suggested that a good way to control the whole thing is every time you get a new one you get rid of an old one......I've got a feeling mine will just keep growing as my waist line does the same.

Well, I've sold off about a hundred. I've told myself time and again I just don't have enough time to paint them all. In a good year I paint about 8 figures. I have about 120 old mounted Historex kits, and about 100 other kits from 54mm to 120mm. There are just a few busts as I prefer full figures, and maybe 50 flats for good measure. And then a dozen armour models, a half dozen sailing ship models, two submarines and 1 airplane. Eight years to retirement!

I had thinned my grey army out pretty well down to about 20+ , then decided to concentrate only on the period that that was my main interest which is US history from the French Indian Wars up to the Spainish American War . Guess what there are many great kits in this period and now I'm up to about 60 again .

Man, that is a good question. I don't even know! Around 300 + figure kits and maybe 20 or so injection molded biplanes and Ma K kits?
