I want to paint a figure which/who is wearing a grey coat. It isn't a dark grey, imagine Napoleon's coat.
How do you paint it? What mix do you use?

Thanks

JAime

I don't know what kind of paint you're using but a good basic method for any medium is black and white with a little umber. Add more white and a touch more umber as you lighten.

Yes, I forgot to say that I paint in acrylics and your method is to paint in oils. But one day I'll have to paint in oils.
Thank you

Jaime

Hey Jaime, I would like to help you, but I too, paint in oils.
Maybe some day I'll experiment with acrylics and than I will be asking you for help.

Ciao,

Roc. :)

Hey Jaime,

Try something like Black + White + Sand Brown or something similar. You can mix all sorts of grays with black and white and with a third color added to make it either a cold gray (blue added) or a warm gray (browns and flesh tones added)

Thank you Anders for answering and help me.
Roco, as you know, I'll help you when you want.

Regards

Jaime

Jaime,

In Euro Modelismo Figuras, number 13, Julio Cabos paint the Andrea Miniatures 90mm mounted Napoleon. I tell you in spanish the colors used (Andrea colors):

Capote de color gris:

- BASE: Gris pizarra 55+gris medio 19+gris confederado 59
- LUCES: Base+gris medio 19; para las ultimas luces emplear Gris Confederado 59+verde marina 58
- SOMBRAS: gris pizarra 55+uniforme inglés 02

Espero que te sirva.

Saludos,

Rafa
