How to make plates

Dear friends,

I am painting figures .My question is how I can make plates with the name
for the finished figures after placing them on the bases.
I would be gratefull for your suggestions.

You can use a computer program called "Photoshop" or have them engraved at a jewelry shop. Look in my gallery for examples of engraving.

There is a company in the U k called name it who produce nameplates especially for military miniatures
They produce plates in 17 finishes 12 sizes and 15 lettering fonts and are much cheaper than visiting an engraver for example a 12mm x 75mm pate in a metallic gold finish with black italic lettering costs £2.50 including engraving, the plates come with a self adhesive backing and a protective film cover

Last year i discovered NameIt. I can highly recommended this firm. They have for an absolutely low price the nicest plates i ever seen.
As Peter wrote above you can find everything there. Today they have a IBAN number, so you should no longer sending money but pay with your bankaccount trough the internetbanking.

They have no website. But send them an email and you get the folder for free. There is all what you wanted to know, and to much to make a good choice.

While Photoshop is a great program for making nameplates, you can also use Microsoft Word for making nameplates. Just create text boxes with the title of your figure or diorama. You can make the text boxes/borders black, brown or other colors leaving the text white. Then print them up using a piece of transparency film. You can then take silver, gold, or brass spraypaint and paint the back of the sheet. Most important is before printing "reverse" or "flip" the plates you've made so the text is backwards. This way when you flip the sheet over after painting the text is no longer backwards and the glossy side of the sheet faces out.~Gary
