I personally think it's only fair when presenting a new kit or otherwise it should be said for the
benefit of the viewer or potential buyer to know how the piece was produced whether it be sculpted
by hand or by some other means. Is it only fair or am I missing something ?

I've always been a traditionalist and preferred 'hand' sculpted pieces. Recently
however I've indulged in a few 3D printed figures...... and there is a noticeable
difference. Different textures feature on the 3D stuff and add considerably to
the sense of realism. Whether hand crafted work is more clever or not is merely
a matter of opinion. For myself, I've come to believe that although different skills
are involved, both production methods are of equal value. Explaining things on the
box isn't important in itself, but would be a courtesy to the buyer.

Not sure what prompted this question ?

I think you prefer traditional sculpting from what I remember

Yep.......Traditional sculpting for me. I'm old and stubborn. However, if someone comes up with a good new bust of the "Outlaw Josey Wales" with guns crossed.
I might be tempted.......

I really don't care as long as it's a good-quality sculpt and cast/print.
