Streuth ! that is some 'Beaten-up' armour ! However Ron, you have certainly captured its essence. Fantastic metals, and aging. When this comes together, its going to be a real beauty. (Despite being as ugly as sin).:D

High Regards for your work.

Mark.

I came late to this thread and originally read it as “Abysmal Warlord” and thought, “What the hell is Tony Blair doing on this site?”

Seriously, very helpful hints. I used to be an airbrush artist, but I’ve yet to have a go on figures. This might tip the balance for me.

Mark, I have only been using the Scale75 paints for about 3 weeks in earnest but, I hope the results give a genuine guide to how they perform.
What stands out for me, is that the metallics work as well as the standard colours, and intermix seamlessly.
They are also starting to release colours individually now. Check out their website for more info.

Hi Jeff, glad you dropped by. Pleased this might tempt you to use the AB in the figure arena. Also, nice to be able to pick your brains with regard to the AB.

Cheers

Having let it all settle/dry whilst on shift, when I came back to it, I decided to re-visit the overall flesh tone and re-do the eyes. I gave the whole head a mist coat of a very pale blue-grey with the AB, then gave him ice blue eyes, in the hope of creating a 'piercing' look.
As you will notice in these next updates, I have taken some of the metals in a different direction to my usual style.
I had gone as far as I could with the AB, so I returned to using oils and brushes. At this stage it has had a basic scrub coat of oil, which has been thinned back as per my usual style. Once dry, I will go back to acrylic metals for details/wear etc.
As always, let me know your thoughts.

As with the metal around the neck, I decided to give the torso and right arm, a much deeper/richer tone. Again, I reverted to oils and brushes. I gave it a rich red scrub coat, which I then thinned back with the make-up brushes and sponges. Once dry, I will go back to the acrylics for detail and wear as well as varying the colours of certain parts, i.e. the chain and circular plates, for contrast.

Having taken things as far as possible with the AB, it was time to add some richer tones to the hide, at the bottom of the fur, on the lower back of the bust. Again, I used oils of varying shades to get the sheen and depth I was looking for. Once the metals and hide etc., have fully dried, I will the re-work the fur cape, to increase the depth and contrast.
As you can see, I have started to work the armour sleeve plates to match the torso section. This will receive the same detailing as the rest when dry.

Hi Ron,
He looks really fearsome, I would not like to meet him in a dark alley.
