Well done Davie, thats a cracking job you are doing on the bust. I think you have captured exactly what I meant when I said about him being a war weary veteran. who has seen a bit of action in his years. Brilliant indeed.

Great work so far.
Don

PS I suppose now that I have had the tips, my grenadier will have to be even better than yours.

Hi David,

Really enjoying this SBS , mine is in the box waiting to be prepped up , and you have some great painting techniques .

Looking forward to seeing more on this .

This is a great bust the subject and quality is really good I for one look forward to seeing more like this from Imperial Gallery .

Thanks for posting this David, these SBS's are so useful and such a help in developing ones own technique-Do you start with the same colours and change the mix according to the figure? or are there other colours you might add if circumstances demand it? Do you let the washes dry and work wet on dry or keep going wet on wet?

David,
If i read it good enough: you don't give the entire face a basecoat and then get the paint of. Then building up the shades and high's. That's my usual way.
Your way is giving coats of very thin (diluted oilpaint) several coats....
Can I say it is almost like painting with acrylic???
I asking because i'm not so satisfied about the way my face's end up. This is a possibility to chance my way.

Marc
