Nap, the drawing of gripping the reins was taken from an early Historex catalogue, which Bryan Fosten illustrated. He was called to task by Eugene Leiepvre for this ,as it is the "British" grip, whereas the French is shown better in the painting by Lalauze above. Didn't want you beating yourself up threading reins through fingers ! Lovely work BTW, coming on beautifully.

Alan

Cheers Alan , appreciate the advice , very nearly gave ,him the reins "a la Anglais"

Off tolook at some french Napoleonic riders !!!

Happy days

Hi everyone

NO !!! its not finished , began looking at the horse and found 2 hairs embedded in the paint ...so......Sanding and swearing I removed them resulting in beginning to repainted using oils and stippling ...that's getting there now

Kept looking at the leopard skin colouring ........unhappy with it as well sanding back the raised spots , little bit of puttywork , now reprimed and basecoated ....all ready for brushes

Might be going on a bit but in a strange sort of way ...it's enjoyable ...honest !!

Maybe not finished this year ...2022 is looking promising

Happy benchtime

Hairs in the paint Busty . . . . .Really :oops: (Don't worry I'm sure Santa will bring some new non shedding brushes:D ;))

Admire your sense of exactidue matey. I've got to be honest I'm not sure I'd have had the courage to rub down and repaint.
Hopefully Crimbo shopping will be done and dusted soon so you can press on to the finish. If not I can wholeheartedly recommend a dose of painting to help digestion after Christmas dinner . . .

Cheers

Cheers Leggy ....it's not my fault I have such long flowing locks of hair ........

Had to look up what exactitude meant ....impressive big word ......horse looking better now and it would have annoyed me ...and someone would have noticed ....

Wot!!....Not finished it yet?:sneaky:;).....LOL
Have a good Christmas
Jim

Nearly there ........in celebration when it is ....change your vest ...LOL

Off to finish off the leopard skin prior to going all spotty

Then just the face on him to paint , mount the sword and sabretache and finito

Have a great Christmas and safe 2022

Hi everyone

YES !! ........still on the bench ...lost the mojo a bit ..probably too many sprouts at Christmas !.....anyway , I have now detailed and repainted the bridle harness.....several times and added a little texture to the horse , it's a soft sheen in reality , added the tongue , and blaze , all painted

Still to decide on the mane colour

On the shaberaque, I took out the spots there ....initially bad move but now repainted the backing colour with highs...so the spots are next , then will repaint the green, red, gold edgings, once done will add the reins...these are all painted ready...Just to add the ends and buckles when in position

Any comments are always welcome

Some iffy pics

Happy benchtime

Thanks for looking
