I always 'enjoy' this thread. As it grows it's a history lesson to us all.
I was looking for a particular memorial in Kelvingrove Park. Glasgow and came across this site.

What horrifies me is that many of the memorials shown are within walking distance of where I live and the others are not much more than a 15 minute drive away.
Anyway visiting as many of these as I can is my summer project.

A cracking find Steve. What a clever and poignant concept, very emotional.
I particularly like the way that the wife and mother is depicted as the powerful woman who will hold the family together

Not as spectacular as others but this one from Newlyn on Cornwall. A large fishing harbour and community. The names of those who did not return are on 3 side of this memorial, the last from 2010, Afghanistan.

Nice find Bob. War hits small communities really bad , with often whole families being lost , nice to see a Afghanistan name being remembered
