Open Book Indian Woman from Altores Studio

Hi everybody

It is evident that Altores Studio have been very busy recently so I would like to share the first of the releases , this one was announced here in PF and in social media

As in the link this was a double set with a warrior (we will be looking at this very soon !) but Altores quite rightly in my opinion decided to split as well ...giving the modeller an opportunity to purchase with more options.

so whats the release.........

As you can see a rather nice looking figure or should I say 2 as there is a bird as well !!!

The lady also has in her hand one of the traditional flowers of India which include the lotus or possible the crocus...or maybe a rose from an soldier ?

One thing to note that the figure is timeless and can be used for virtually all periods , historical and modern.

Indian women and their clothing are known for their beauty and colour and the wonderful jewellery they wear enhancing the features of the face etc .

Our subject wears the traditional saree which is worn in many different styles :

A sari, saree, or shari consists of of a drape varying from five to nine yards (4.5 metres to 8 metres) in length and two to four feet (60 cm to 1.20 m) in breadth.
It is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff.There are various styles of sari draping, the most common being the Nivi style
The sari is usually worn over a petticoat , with the blouse having short sleeves and is usually cropped at the midriff. The sari is associated with grace and is widely regarded as a symbol of grace in cultures of the Indian continent both past and present.
Many different colours and patterns are available from plain versions to highly decorated prints like these:

As with the previous releases fast shipping , good customer service in response to my questions which is good to see , packaging as before , a white cardboard box with no colour box art .being available at the time.

Parts consist of the main figure , a left hand, the bird, the flower and a base ​

Prep

Main figure ...Remove fomer from elbow and under foot , a casting plug from under saree
Hand...Remove from former and fit to main figure after masking a hole for the flower stem
Flower...Remove from former and fit
Bird.....Remove from former and fit
Base...Slight sanding round edge

So there you have it absolutely minimal prep perhaps you might like to paint the flower separately as it delicate.

Main Figure

The figure is a one piece casting and I have no hesitation in saying well done to the casting team , the lady is wearing the flowing saree , the movement of the folds is really nicely done , folds are natural in look with the material being pulled in at the waist .

She is I think maybe a dancer or on her wedding day as in a rather seductive manner she is wearing sleeveless blouse under so we see her waist and her female form shaped under the material folds

She holds the head material towards her face ...perhaps she does not want to show her feelings .

Facial features are really pretty , she is smiling

Arms are bare and peeking out from under the material, thin in proportion to her body, there is a locating hole for the hand to fit to.


Arms and hands are all decorated with jewellery all finely sculpted

Waist ,wrists, neck and headwear are all shown with jewellery , finely worked with drops and all manner of items

Of particular note is the headdress a mass of decoration , hair is nicely worked underneath

Now to the remaining pieces

The Flower ...
Very delicate in shape petals are nicely formed , the stem is very thin so be careful , if it breaks then its an easy job to replace with wire.

The Hand
Another finely detailed piece of resin , fit is easy to the wrist , a small wipe of filler might be needed., the flowere fits between the thumb and fingers

The Cockatoo
I just love this guy ...strutting about the ground squarking about with beak open , the comb feathers on the head are splayed out the feathers are nicely worked as are the beak features.
..this feathered fellow has attitude !!!


Base

A simple piece of resin textured slightly with locating holes for the pieces.



Final Thoughts

This is a lovely subject ,unusual , delicately sculpted and well cast , yet to see a painted version but the options are so many , perhaps she could be slightly converted and used in a dancer group

This is a fantastic release, and something very original.

Personally I thought their first couple of releases (the fisherman and the trapper IIRC) were a bit ho-hum and underwhelming, but since then they've really upped their game and are fast making their mark in the hobby. Long may it continue!

you're right, but the bird than to live in Australia living in Indonesia also not very far from India.

various hypotheses which are at the foot of the maiden.
it was ancient
house of a maharajah so very rich man, it did take from several exotic animal dealers to adorn its park
It was more modern
near a British officer
lover of 'ornithology ..it was stationed in Australia and then moved to India and he brought with him a bird
it was present
we are in the era of globalism ... now there are no boundaries
and even dozens of hypotheses
the girl is part of a delegation to visit the Queen Victoria plausible that there are these species of birds in one of London Zoo

This is a lovely sculpt and a most interesting subject to paint. I could be "forced" to get one of these. Great review as always.
