Greetings
I am going around in circles with this.
Am I right in thinking that the Lee Metford Cav Carbine was superseded by the Lee Enfield Cav Carbine in about 1898. The reason being that the L M barrel could not cope with the cordite ammo. thereby the barrel was changed to a Enfield barrel hence Lee Enfield. IF I have got this right were there any other changes if so what. If Im wrong PLEASE put me right.

That said Can anyone help with the following. Re THE LEE ENFIELD
1, Overall length of the carbine.
2 Overall barrel length.
3, Was sling rings fitted and if so was a sling used along with the carbine bucket.

Thanks
Mick

Thanks Steve,
I had seen that site.
I have since found that the barrel was 21 inches.
So with this in mind the LE Rifle being 49.6 inches I would assume that the stock ? butt of the carbine / rifle are the same..
The LE Rifle barrel being 30.2 inches.
Which if my math are right along with above info it makes the carbine 40.04 inches.

Still looking for sling info but its looking like a No.

Thanks again Steve
Mick

Thanks Chris.
That seems to confirm barrel sizes etc.
I note that the carbine shown on the nam site has a bar on the butt for a sling but nothing on the stock forthe other end.
Thanks Mick
