Whip handle and whipped-cord are fitted today with two-component glue - and as if the whip stuck with whipped cord under into a belt or sash, the whip cord for the photos here is only plugged and not glued permanently...:

85. Day, 22. February 2013

At the original bust of Young is now provided to attach a wide leather belt over gun and knife...:

85_1_zpsfe508f8f.jpg

Unfortunately, this has not much to do with historical reality - such belts may have worn pirates in the Caribbean. Among the Zaporozhian Cossacks it looked completely different!

They wore indeed a baldric, but as thin leather strap ...:

Over this leather straps however, a fabric sash was worn..:

This sash had to fulfill two purposes: To be as gorgeous and colorful as possible!

So away with the pirate belt, and afragment of such material Sash sculpted by "Milliput" to my bust ...:

I must confess that I was a bit afraid to sculpt around at the nearly finished bust!

But the action has succeeded without breakage or damage!

Over the weekend the Milliput must now harden. See you then!

Hi Martin ,

Youa re nearly there with the coloutful sash being another great addition ,

Looking forward to seeing what colour(s) you go for ...

Like Taffjones I too will be sad when this wonderful SBS is done.........but what an inspiration it has been with the finished utem being a stunnig piece of modelling from start to finiah .

Looks great. Happy to see all the separate parts coming together. Lets get him done!

Really appreciate the time put in to give us the SBS... Very helpful and educational both for modelling and historically.

86. Day, 25. February 2013

Today I have not done much.

It has only served to prime the sash with a brush ...

86_1_zps30129301.jpg

...and to dunk the "invisible side” in black ...

86_2_zps3f2a170a.jpg

Tomorrow I will take time to paint the sash. I plan for this to become even a little highlight...

Martin ,

Even with the sash just primed this is going to be a great addition to the bust , looking again at the amount of work and detail included its an amazing amount of work and research .

When the head is on ..then he will come to life .......going to be interesting to see what you do wih the base at the end of this great SBS

Thanks again for sharing your passion

87.Day, 26. February 2013

Now today: TheSash!

I've decided to give a sash of red- and goldbrocade to Iwan Sirko.

For thisI use these colors...:

87_1_zps20706296.jpg

As gold paint I use this timet he gold of"Vallejo", for - compared to the gold of"Andrea" – it has a distinctreddish tinge-and also not as intense lights.

The next photo showswhat I mean!

On the lef tthe gold from Andrea (NAC-55), on the right "Vallejo Model Color" 996 ...:

But - how brocade painting?

I do it like this…:

On the whole sash is not painted a singlebrushstroke-but always with a new mixture of the above shown colorsspotted point by pointnext to and about each other.

Do you do it patiently and in sufficient detail, with each swabismore animpression ofred and gold-brocade!

I wanteds omething like that from the startbefore - and I'm glad Icould make up my mindto repaint the pistol-lock from "brass" to"iron" -otherwise it would be"down there" become too colorful...

So -i f I do not mess it upmore, that was the last part of the bust, which had to be painted...:

88. Day, 27. February 2013

Today is finally ...

Wedding!

But first there are a few moments of adrenaline-containing.

Before me are the parts of the finished painted bust ...:

88_1_zps3f7bf98b.jpg

Now the head has to get off the first working block. Tricky! Can I manage that without canceling the mustache-ends ...?

Yes ...!

88_2_zps304a7854.jpg

And tremble again: Did I measure myself when adjusting the head to the neck? Does the color applied in the collar cut too much? Does the head mach, for it was an the bustlast on 14. November, before painting...?

88_6_zps0c811144.jpg

Yeeeeeeeaaaaaah - it fits!

Ivan Sirko is ready!

The only things are left: To unpack the base again and make some decent photos ...
