Hi to all in the planet,
I have on my work bench a 200mm bust of a Aztec Jaguar Warrior , he has a cloak and I need to do a animal skin , has anyone any ideas as to the best way of going about this ...thanks in anticipation ...Regards Kev

Hello Kevin,
The jaguar skin is similar to the leopard one, but the mottles are a little larger and have small points inside, in the centre. Do you want an image? I'll try to find it...
Regards MdM

Kev, you touched on one of my favorite subjects, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers
Roc. :)

Hi to you all and a big thanks for the information , this is what the planet is all about .

Marcello .....thank you for details and the fabulous picture really helpful.

Sambaman....the bust is a very old one made by a UK company called Celtic Models , I got thIS one in a bargain bin at our annual show some time ago from Bonapartes in Bath (David Freeman) , he might have one lying around if you want to contact him I will get details .

Roc ....thanks also for words of encouragement , I only have a very basic computer as technology hasn't reached the depths of Calne in the UK , hope to upgrade some time soon and will of course get photos on the planet .

Thanks once again Kev

Hello Kevin,
Nothing to thank...it was very easy. But I prefer another  although some italian red cars are not bad, isn't true? ;)

I'd paint the base colours, highlighting and shading as appropriate. Then add the rosette centres in a darker colour, then do the black parts (you could use pure black for this, depends on how much highlighting and shading you do overall though).

Keep some good reference photos at hand while you work of course. It's best not to go on memory, that way lies a cartoony effect!

If you need to you might consider sketching the position of the spots and rosettes in with a pencil before you go in with paint, that sometimes helps, and you'll be able to cover all the pencil lines with paint quite easily if you draw lightly.
