Hello everyone, I don't know if this is allowed, but my apologies in advance.
I allow myself to do this post to introduce you to a person who is not only a very good person but also an exceptional painter.
This is Jean Paul DANA.
Here are some images of his paintings and his Patreon that I invite you to join!
Thanks for him :D

Jean Paul is well known to many of us figure modellers through various articles on magazines. An exceptional modeller no doubt.

Oda.

Furthering to what Ron says above, I think there are many Patreon pages relating to figures and painting. If there is an interest, it might be worthwhile to have a 'commercial' subforum set aside for advertisements of this nature?

You are right.
There a lot already Patreon. Especially for Fantasy Figures.

I've been pushed by my sudients over a year to make my own Patreon Videos.

Especially because there is no Patreon in French painting historical miniatures.

I decided to includ English version in my videos. For sure it might be less interesting for English spoken to have another Patreon...
But who knows....

Not much different from figure new, many reviews..patreon is a. Way people can try get by in these times..it’s more than some rip off, I subscribe to Kiwi Mikes and enjoy the interaction...if self promotion is inappropriate, then much of PF would be banned..Julian represents Michigan Toy, Paulo, Ammo by Mig, Stelios..Stelios..etc..

Absolutely. And since those have their own subforum ...

I hope I didn't give the impression that Patreons are a rip off, I surely didn't intend to. And again, I didn't suggest banning the self promotion, I suggested giving it its own corner if there is sufficient interest.

Oh, perhaps you were reacting to an earlier post. Ron, my understanding is that Patreon is (or can be) more than just showing your work. It could contain instructional videos, life streams, feedback on students' work, consultation hours etc. (I haven't joined any, though, so I can't say for sure).

Reptor, apologies for hijacking your topic.

Thanks Henk...it’s one more way people trying to get by...but of course “your mileage may vary”

I don't have a problem with anyone posting a link to his Patreon page in the forum. It's simple enough-I don't have to go look at it.
The only issue I can think of, is that if the post is intended to generate business, it belongs in the Markets & Commissions forum, not the Painting Techniques forum, which is really more of a how-to forum.

Prost!

Agree..there may be need for a new sub forum as catch all for infomercials ..it’s somewhat different from seeing a YouTube or FB article and posting the link as item of interest..it’s a new reality out there and the creators who used to frequent shows, do seminars are struggling..Marc Masclans was to do a tutorial at a get together hosted by Figone, but he didn’t get enough registrants..presumably due nervousness as much as actual rules..Banshee made his living doing tutorials...maybe there are more to the fantasy genre, but I don’t think this is genre particular..I do wonder the economics of it all tho: how much interest in distance demonstration, lessons, even critique..hoe many willing to pay enough to make any money, yet the effort by the creator must be material otw the whole things is a sloppy waste. I am having fun with Mike Butler seeing his technique, asking questions..so for me the modest patreon fee was well worth it...would I pay for a one on one with someone else? So far I haven’t..but there are a few I would: Dmitry ...

Hi everyone

for those who are not familiar with Patreon, it's NOT a "show off" platform at all, it's actually a kind of painting school.

I am a member of Sergio Calvio Rubio's Patreon and with a 2 - 3 hours live video where you can interact and ask questions ... all i can say is that it helped me so much in my painting.
