Gents, I'm not sure if others are having trouble getting in contact with Jeff Shiu or not, so I'm reaching out for a little advice. I used to deal a lot with him pre COVID. I purchased many kits from him and all was good. Recently I tried reaching out again and got a response then nothing. Is there a "code" or something I should know that has happened sense? I saw 2023 posts with the same issue. thanks

I'm so glad he doesn't produce subjects or scales I am interested in. He seems a nightmare to deal with. His stuff must be good for people to bother to deal with him.

Sir, I'm just baffled. I had a great relationship, no issues, now inconsistency. I guess I just wondered if he's still in business or his business terms changed. I figured the members would have some idea and could enlighten me. ?????

I doubt that it has anything to do with Chinese new year.

Jeff has become a very erratic character to deal with these past 2 or 3 years. In my experience at least (but which I know others have shared) he sometimes doesn't even bother replying to e-mails at all.

He's also become totally paranoid about recasters to the point where at one stage he was demanding that some people send him photos of their hands next to other kits to (somehow) prove that they were genuine punters who wouldn't piratize his stuff. For example, he demanded that a mate of mine send him a photo of his hand next to the relevant Italeri motorbike kit before he'd sell him the figure to go with it. Whether or not he's still doing this I don't know, but it was all rather bizarre.

He also announced a couple of releases on here but with the caveat that they'd only be available to certain "trusted" customers - and sure enough, go to his site and no details would appear when you tried clicking on the thumbnails. The two Fallschirmjäger with the anti-tank rifle (JS120188) was one of these, which (ironically) a pF member currently has on open sale in the Classifieds sub-forum.

Jeff's kits have also become noticeably more "rough around the edges" than they used to be. One can only speculate as to why this might be the case.

In my opinion, none of the above in any way enhances the buying experience. And it's a shame, because like you said dealing with him used to be hassle-free, quick and pleasant overall, and his customer service was good if there was ever an issue with missing/lost/broken parts etc. I used to buy off him semi-regularly until a few years ago, and I have a fair few of his figures. But I've only bought off him once since Covid, and that was like pulling teeth (multiple e-mails initially ignored etc.). There are one or two new figures that Jeff's added to his range since that I wouldn't mind having, but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the hassle and potentially being asked to jump through hoops.

He'll be fingerprinting people next. Hang on, I don't want to give him an idea...
I've had both his Crimean figures and it was a good experience dealing with him. Getting custimers to perform tricks is never good customer service, though. A shame, as his output is prolific, and well thought-out.

The descibed changes in Jeff's relations to customers aside, Jeff expressed some time ago that he needs to translate messages in English which led to comments being translated via google before posting them on this Forum. So maybe this is worth another try when messaging him. Cheers Martin
