Here is another classic sculpt that I managed to finish recently. My "Hall of Shame and forgotten projects" is still huge, so there might be some more oldies hapening soon.

I was focusing on the face here, looking for new ways of working with fleshtones. It's not extra smooth, but I'm still happy with the overall results.

I hope you like him too;]

Glad to know I'm not alone in that boat! :ROFLMAO:

Really nice work this piece, I like it a lot. JMD did some lovely stuff. Yodleur des Cascades is a favourite fantasy piece of mine, if you know it?

Yeah, I'm habitual starter, not as much finisher;]

And yeah, I know the miniature you are talking about (I call him pencil head guy because I don't speak any French;p) and I'd say he's like 75% finished at the moment;]

It translates as "yodeler of the waterfalls". But "pencil head guy" works for me as well!

Post him up when you eventually get him done. (y)

Lovely job Marta, really like how you got so much colour into the face, also love the way you've done the lenses in the goggles, same technique for painting jewels on flats.

Cheers Simon

Thanks.
The main goal for this project was for me to find new, interesting ways of painting the skintones, so I'm really happy it shows.

Hi Marta

What a fun piece to see , liking the skin tones ...what colours mixes are you using?

Do like the goggles as well

Do consider supporting the competitions see link below

Looking forward to more “delving” into the hall of shame ...very soon

Happy benchtime

Funny thing... I lost the ability to paint sking using sets (not that I don't have lots of them), so I basically have to mix my own.
The colours I'm using right now is Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Alizaring Crimson, White, Payne gray (all from liquitex) plus Sanguine Base (from P3). I might sometimes add some yellow glaze in the forehead area, but not always.

Hello there!

Brilliant paintjob!
I also still have him and others in my stash. And I do not call it "hall of shame" or "pile of shame", but "pile of opportunities". ;)

Cheers

I have dozens of models 75%-90% finished. It is a shame that I can't force myself for the last push and finish them properly;p

Hmmm, but finishing up stuff is so rewarding. I've been trying to finish off quite a few past long term projects and have been quite successful at it lately. Some where commissions, so I had a good motivation to final finish them. But I also finished some personal projects.
I admit, sometimes you have to "byte" yourself through some projects.
I hope you'll get there, eventually.

Cheers
