Beautiful painting Gerard!!

One thing I should tell you is that my box art painting is wrong in the piping of SS cap. I realized it after releasing this bust..

I've attached a reference photograph which I used for box art painting. It still creats the illusion that the SS cap have two white pipings.......

Pedro is right. there should be only one white piping without the cord.

It seems that you tried to copy my box art ... I'm so sorry for giving you wrong information.

I see this mistake made frequently. The bottom "piping" is not piping at all, but a welt of field gray cloth. Pedro's photo shows this, but the colors are hard to make out.

The cap band with the skull mounted on it is black, followed by the narrow white piping (fuzzy) and then the welt of field grey. It looks like it matches the "black" band in the photo, but is in fact field gray.

Here is a pic which shows this better:

I hope this helps......

I take it then its a single piping for peiper

Brian

I was having the same thought...I'm confused now:depressed:
Having a closer look to the photo Lee Sang used as a reference, now I'm sure that the problem is , once again, because of it is a colorized picture, plus some strange scratches in the zone where the buttons to attach the piping should be. So I'll remove the pin button of the cast and paint the field cap like this:

Hi Gerard!

I remove a long time the buttons of the cap, is a easy task for a guy like sculpting skills are zero.
I have here pics of SS officers with ceremony cap in the field (combat) without the cord.

Pedro,

You should have kept the studs. They are there for a reason: the hat Peiper is wearing is NOT the "old style" officer's cap (which has no chin cords) but is a standard officer's dress cap with the cords removed. The give-aways are the remaining studs for the cord attachments and the skull insignia being displaced upward on the cap band. Young has depicted these details faithfully. The photo that Lee Sang Eon has posted in posting #18 above show these details clearly.

A little knowledge is usually only enough to get you in trouble. That is why it pays to do your homework and have a good knowledge of your subject. I hope this helps.....

 I'm confused again.I'd swear he's wearing the same cap here, with no signs of studs.

anyway is this supposed to be the stud for attaching the cord?..because I'have not be able to find any cap with the stud in that position- exactly at the end of the visor.. I'm starting to think tht's just a dove poo..and maybe I'll paint it like that and problem solved!!:D
