Anyone care to share their thoughts about HBO's latest period mini-series? Though I've only seen the first episode I was pretty impressed with the entire production.

I saw only minutes of the first and about 45 minutes of the second episode. All in all I liked what I saw. I have to admit, I don't like all the damn goofy camera angles they used, and I don't mean where it was shot from but the fact that they constantly tilt the camera to give us some sort of additional visual interest. It was like constantly looking at a crooked picture frame hanging on the wall (yes, I'm the guy that straightens all your picture frames 10 minutes after being at you house!). I wanted to go up and tilt the damn TV all the time. That aside, I kinda like it!

I saw most of the first and second. Gee-I hope the history is accurate. I've got no background in that period, so... The acting is first rate.

I've been a fan of Giamatti since the rock in the boot incident in Saving Private Ryan. "Ankles like an old lady...just like an old lady." Great character acting bit. I wonder if he was ad-libbing that. It felt like it was ad-libbed IMHO.

All the best,
Dan

Anyone still watching? I really enjoy seeing the style of clothing change with the years being portrayed.~Gary

Hey Gary,

Watching all of them and really enjoying it. Just a side note, watched a really good movie, Amazing Grace. I recommend it highly.

It's amazing to me that no one seems to be talking about it.

I am too...a little. The lack of interest may be more due to the fact that we're dealing with the early politics of our nation. I'm sure on message boards and sites that cater to Revolutionary War reenactors there's more activity. It is nice however to see pains taken to give it that period feel. ~Gary

Becuase we had free HBO a couple weekends ago, I was able to see the first three episodes. I was pretty impressed, it has that gritty look that I like in historical films. Can't wait for it to come out in DVD.

I worked in this film last sommer as an extra actor, because the half of the film was shoted here in Hungary, the costumes were very nice. I was a european citizen in a ball. :D
