Hey everyone,

I thought I'd post a piece I made based on the original movie (with my own twist). My son got me this vinyl kit from Alternative Images for Father's Day (knowing what a fan of the movie I am). I decided to add the "Fay Ray" figure so I converted a 54MM piece from Prieser, with Aves Apoxie and kneadatite. Kong is airbrushed enamels and Fay is painted with vallejos. The majority of the ground work is from Woodlands Scenics and Hudson and Allen products. The waterfall is a clear acrylic gel used for caulking windows and the pool is a generic bar top resin poured in about three layers. (I hope I didn't overload on the pics :) ). The entire piece stands about 26 inches.

Cheers,
Bob Waltman

Hello Bob,

This call's for a SBS and especially the groundwork needs a fine explenation.

This one is amazing.
Do you have more picture's????????

Please tell us more how you did it.

Marc

Thanks everyone for your response. This was one of those projects that was just plain fun to build. As requested, I've attached more photos, these being mainly detail shots. As for the ground work, Woodland Scenics sells a series of "trees" which I found to be a perfect match for my jungle look. I used 5 packages to create a "cluttered" look. The vines coming out the side of the cliff are various pieces of roots and limbs from azalea bushes. The grass is various colors that is offered from the VLS Techstar range. I placed about 4 layers of grass to add to the plush look. The dias that Fay is standing on and the pillars that she is tied to are made from (carved) from foam board. The "ape" faces on the cliff wall are ultra-cal (plaster) castings made from a toy that was sold in a series of toys from the Lara Croft movie.

Thanks again,

Cheers,
Bob Waltman

Bob, this is just crazy. This is definitely my favorite of the dioramas you've posted pictures of. I have to send a link of this to my dad. He's the biggest King Kong fan out there.

Fantastic work Bob! Show us some bigger (about 550-600 pixels wide) pictures so we can appreciate your workmanship that much better (y)

Jim Patrick

Thank you, everyone, for your comments. Very much appreciated. :)

Jim/Andy,

As requested, I've added 6 larger pics. These are some of the better shots. Hope these will work (y)

Excellent Bob!!!!!!!!! Thanks (y) One thing I forgot about but has to be seen, in all of this, you guys should see the finish on the snake. Everything in this dio compliments one another and it's inspiring to see again even if it's in pictures. Now that your room is set up again and the "room" warming party is scheduled, you need to get your puter at home fixed. That way we can get responses from you all night instead of while your'e at work. Besides, we need to slow you down!

Thanks again,
Jim Patrick
