Sadly we've been hit again, only a small country & a small community with at least 3 regular modeller members here John Belcher, Andy Cairns & Les Smith having homes in Christchurch, one of our largest cities hit by another earthquake:

65 dead so far, my thoughts go out to the guys & I'm sure you will all consider them in your prayers.

We dodged a bullet last time but have been destroyed this time :-(

Wow sorry to hear that. It sounds like it was pretty bad. I live in California and the big ones can be quite scary. Good thoughts going out to the bottom of the world.

The damage is shocking Mike. It's really hit bad this time.
I hope all our friends are safe and well but this much loss of life and damage in such a small city has to touch everyone there in some way.
All the best to our Kiwi mates in Christchurch who are now searching for people amongst the rubble at night.

I heard it on the news this morning on my way to work.
It is very sad news.
Down under they had it all last year.
Hope that our friends are well......
My thoughts are on the famillies that lost there loveones.

Marc

Just heard from Les Smith, he is OK, however his wife has lost her cousin in the quake.

Thinking of you guys :-(

This is just awful news again, watching on the satellite news now, anyone heard from Andy Cairns or John Belcher?

Our thoughts are with you at this dreadful time

Tommi

Thats shocking and sad news, sorry Les Smith wife's cousin, That's too bad.
Thoughts are with you wikis.

Hope all our friends in Christchurch are OK and we hear from them soon. Communication might be tough though as I think a whole lot of buildings and lines are down.
Look forward to hearing they are alright. Hope the rescue effort is going well.

Seems this was movement from a new plate, very shallow and very close to town, thats what has done the damage, as I believe last years big one was bigger and stronger than this one.

Mike,

Our thoughts are with those in hardship. It is difficult to imagine how, in a moment, such a tragedy can turn our world upside down - both figuratively and literally. Best wishes to everybody...

I hope all our fellow planeteers are safe and well, my thoughts go out to them. At the same time I am amazed at how awesome nature is.
Best wishes to all involved
Tom

morning folk,.
Andy Cains and family are ok, John Belcher and family, Mark Dunnsmuir and family l have been unable to make contact with....hopefully no news is good news,..can only just live in hope.....

Still no news from John, his wife Dinka works for 111 Emergency telephone services & was on duty when the big September one hit.
Only 50% of power is on in the city so hopefully they are still caught up in this. They have a deep faith so would value your prayers & thoughts.

Will update as soon we hear anything else.
