I heard from Andy Cairns late yesterday - he & his family are ok.

Mt thoughts go out to all the people affected - the footage shown on the BBC looks dreadful.

We are ok,however my mothers house on cliff top has been badly damaged. We have spent the last three days removing her belongings, luckily she was,nt in the house at the time. She and my sisters family are going up the North Island for a while.
My workshop is a mess(No different than usual says the Missus).
Our House is ok,a loose roof tile.
Water is back on but not at mains pressure.
The city centre is a mess.
Alot of liquifaction around but is now getting cleaned up.Liquifaction is a kind of muddy silt that blew upwards through fisurs in the ground when it fractures.
desalination plants have been set up for the seaside communities such as New Brighton and Lyttlton.
Thanks for the overseas help assisting with search and rescue amongst the rubble of the city centre.
Regards
Andy

Glad to hear you and your family are ok, Andy.
Good luck with the clean up.

Cheers.

Hi guy's, firstly let me convey a deep felt thanks on behalf of the guy's here in Christchurch for all the messages of support you have given over the last few days. It has been a tough few days, but fortunately we are all fine although some have damaged property and effects. The support from you all is amazing and highlights the caliber of this online community. Many, many thanks Les

Just talked on the phone to John. He & family are safe staying with some friends & trying to salvage what they can from his house. He saved a few figures some of his references but has lost a lot of stuff, including his PC at present so doesn't have email addresses for everyone he'd like to contact. When time permits he'll be back on here to tell you all from his own perspective how things are. Your support in the meantime is most appreciated.
