While I agree absolutely superb painting there are one or two bits of the figure itself which annoy me.
Firstly, I’ve never seen a contemporary picture of a knight wearing only one aillette .
The dagger looks odd
That odd bit of plate armour also seem out of place, incongruous, anachronistic and very much an afterthought on behalf of the designer.
And the red arm band looks more Hollywood than History.
please correct me if I’m wrong
None of this detracts in any way from Magnus’s superb painting, but it would stop me buying the kit. Shame.
 
I also thought that the sculptor overloaded the left arm with all sorts of items (the glove, the arm band, the piece of armour, the aillette), probably because it is visible unlike the other arm concealed behind the horse. Great paining, nevertheless.
