Why does everyone get so defensive about Nazi subjects? Aren't you proud to paint them? Just asking, guys.
Nappy1 (Bill)?
I don't think for one moment I've defended the Nazi's ever!
Members of my family lost their lives fighting in the second world war, my father was a merchant seaman in WW2,my grandfather was persent at the first day of the Battle of the Somme WW1 with the Buffs (East Kent Regt) and was badly wounded,my great grandfather was serving in the Royal Navy at the same time, family and friends have been in many conflicts world wide,I'm PROUD of them all!!!
All the years of figure painting I've painted 4 germans from WW2.
Like you if I'm right??I've painted many British figures from the colonials to WW2,a few French Napoleonic's,Franco/Prussian war so on.
In my original post,I pointed out that Kurt Meyer came with another figure,I liked the pose so I painted it,then in the painting of it I looked up who he was,and found out to my cost, not one of the,run of the mill to say the least!
Most of the Nazi brass we're out of the looney bin,all barking mad and sadistic killers! The adverage trooper was a hard fighting and followed orders to the letter,I'm suprsed we managed to win or did we? if you look at Germany now!
Politics aside,if we only painted our winning side it would narrow things rather a lot!
You like to stamp your foot and make your voice known on this forum,I understand your point about the Nazi's,but there is little need for the constant rant?
If my figure offended sorry! my freedom to paint any subject I like,as you have!
Enough said.
Best Regards
