Hi Quang

Thanks for letting us know about that. Did this figure also win a medal at Euro?
I like the lay-out of the info you're running on the site now; lots of good additional info. When (and I mean when) I get round to this lady, I'll make sure I use the site to the max (if not, download it soon).

Will you develop the site along this path in the future (ie revisiting figures from the catalogue)?

I like it

Rob

Loved your article Quang and hope you continue revisiting pieces from your catalog. The tattoos that you do on her back are beautiful and I know are freehand as well. Where do you get the background to do tattoos?

Keep up the great work.
Thanks for posting to us

Guy

Hi Guy

If you follow the links in the article on the site, it shows a book that I guuess Quang used. I've seen in in a few shops a number of years ago. Intrigued at the time, but didn't think I could use it. Time's changed, methinks.

The way Quangs set up the article, there are links at many different levels. Makes visiting it fun!

Rob

Yes it does Rob, Quangs website is one of our more popular ones recieving more hits from us than many other older ones. I enjoy visiting his site and always hope before the screen goes to his site that he has something new to offer. Alot od websites don't keep their site updated and it is a shame because people stop visiting them after a while.

What a wonderful figure, Quang. I especially like the tattoo-- it has that soft, translucent look of an actual tattoo. Thanks for sharing with us how it was painted, and thanks for the great links you provided. I may have to add a Kyoto Belle to my ever growing collection of "Japanese Figures to Built When My Painting Skills Can Do Them Justice".

Hi Quang,

you already know I love your figures as I told you several times!!!

I'm about to build the Landsknecht figure from Pili Pili, but would like to give him a flag instead of the spear he's holding now. Do you, or anybody else, know of a good site where I can see examples of patterns for the flag? Many thanks in advance.

BTW, how's the top-secret AMSS project comming along?

Best wishes,

Gino

P.S. Will you be at the Gent or Lier show?

Gino:

For the Landsknecht flag, try this:

http://petruspulcher.itgo.com/flags/iw-flags.html

Keep in mind that these flags were quite big (approx: 2 m x 2m). Check out the flags at the Ommegang in Brussels, it would give you a good idea.

The AMSS project is on its way. But March is still a long way to go!

When are the Gent and Lier shows? Maybe I'll go and play the tourist

Quang

Mike, Guy and Rob,

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, this bust won a gold medal in the World Expo and at Euro-Militaire This is one of the rare instances where I 'revisit' a figure.

I always wanted to do it (at least for some of my favourite creatures like the Cowboy and the Geisha) and would have done it more often if I had the time.

During the research stage, a great amount of data has been gathered for each of the figures. Not all of it was used for it would have 'drowned' the original intent. The way I see it, the historical facts (the data) should be a support to the sculpt and not the other way round.

Revisiting a figure is a great opportunity to make something out of the left-overs and a website is the ideal ground to share it with others.

As for the multi-level reading of the PiLiPiLi website as Rob rightly puts it, there are already a few 'Easter eggs' hidden here and there and I will add some more as I get more and more familiar with the software. Let's call it the 'eye candy for the attentive surfer'!

I like toying around, but you know that already

Quang

Hello Gino,

I did this landsknect about 20 years ago and got the flag from an Osprey Book on Landsknects. It is slightly converted Series 77 150mm Landsknect. The flag was made from Kleenix hardened with crazy glue and then shaped under hot water.

Great figure Guy, this is one of figures I wish that I had bought when it was available. How many of us see a figure and think I,ll buy that later, only for the manufacturer to cease trading or it goes out of production.

That would make an interesting thread in it's own right!

"I wish I'd bought........."

OR

"I could kick myself because..........."

hmmm, maybe someone should start that one off?

Simon :)
