Following on from the completed Eagle Bearer I have now finished bust No 2,this as a conversion of the CGS military figures French Dragoon, nearly all the dragoon uniform details were removed and new Guard clothing re-sculpted using Magic-Sculp.
The musket was altered only slightly from the dragoon musket to the guard musket.
The bearskin head was provided to me by Graham from CGS eagle bearer kit as was the knapsack and bayonet.
The eppaulettes, drinking gourd, ammunition pouch, head bandage and rank insignia were all sculpted using magic-sculp.

All the painting was completed in oils over GW and Humbrol acrylic paints, metals were done with the Andrea gold and silver acrylic paint sets.

All weathering was achieved with oil paints

I would like to say a big thank you to Graham Scollick for supplying me with the spare parts for this project and his support throughout the project so far.

I would also like to thank all my fellow planeteers for their continued support throughout this project, its been an interesting 6 months since I started the project in January and one I've really enjoyed so far.

Absolutely stunning work Brian. On its own this is an ambitious and superbly finished piece but to say this is a single character in a multiple set piece meaning you have to maintain the standard across so many figures...... well, I just take my hat off to you.

Many thanks Graham for your kind coments and support for my work,as you say it could have been used as a single piece alone, painting a large project like this means I have to write all the colour mixes I use to make sure I maintain the uniformity throughout the project.

We're certanly attending a master lesson in perseverance. I can't wait no longer to seeing all the finished pieces fit together!(y)
Cheers
Many thanks Gerard,I've always been quite a patient person anyway when it comes to hobbies,it must stem from my love of fishing, glad you like it mate,I'm afraid though you will have to wait a little longer yet before its all completed"

This bust diorama should be in a museum Brian,so normal folk can see what a soldier on campaign would really look like.I've got a funny feeling that we've not heard the last of this work that you are doing.Reckon it's destined to become a major talking point and deservedly so.

Yet again I am bowing and doffing my cap to the master of campaign painting , this is soldiering as it really is ..no matter what the period this is what its all about the fight in the grime and dirt of the battlefield .

That's probably the best painting example of a battle-stained soldier that I've seen.
