Lancer, 3rd Regt Belgian Lancers 1890's

My first full Historex figure in decades, the Dragoon doesn't count because the figure was a resin Nemrod piece yeah I know same firm, BUT.

Not that there is much beyond the horse that is pure Histotex. The saddle is modified, the uniform is all Magicsculpt, the lance is brass rod and paper, though the pointy bit is Historex. Oh and the sword that is pure Historex.

He is painted entirely on acrylics as is the saddle, the horse is oils over acrylic underpainting.

It's always amazed me what people have been able to achieve with Historex figures.
Yours is most certainly up there with the best of them.

That does look so good , the work on the saddle and the shaberaque ...nicely done , the lancer is a triumph and skilled modelling along with the painting really has made this special

For me I would have had the lancer facing forward with the horse on the left so the great work on both could be seen straight on ....but that’s me !

I have a feeling this won't be the last Belgian figure I do as there are so many great uniforms still to explore.

Well my youngest starts a years Master course at Lueven Uni in Sep, which is a 15 min train journey to Brussels so I'm planning on getting there at some stage.

Brad, Neil & Ipa53, thank you gentlemen your comments are very much appreciated, practice makes perfect, so I reckon by the time I pop my clogs I should reach my peak!

Yes Historex is definitely the way ahead for me, luckily I have a fair collection of spare parts.

As for how I get so much done, well taking into account my various injuries and chronic back pain, plus somewhat spotty mental health all courtesy of HM Forces I don't work. I am not a telly addict, I watch very little so I have plenty of time on my hands, I find modelling and painting very relaxing so I do as much as I can. I also habitually have a few projects on the go at a time.
