Hello my friends,
here some shots og my wip of this fantastic and expressive bust from Yury Serebryakov Miniatures.
The photo's quality is not the best because I used a backgroud not properly right and the white balance wasn't setted.
I hope you like the work I've made until now.

Marco, Great start, its a lovely face to paint isn’t it good flesh tones, great eyes and a good start on the torso

Dave

Marco, a wonderful face , I like also the shirt, nice shadows. Will follow your attempt on this bust and will be for sure influenced and very much inspired by your approach, when I start mine...

Marco, nice start, great skintones and it'll be interesting to see your choice of colours. Will follow.

Cheers Ken

Hi Marco!

As the others has said, fantastic skin tones and great eyes. What I would like is some more variation on the beard and moustache to make them more interesting. Maybe fade in the skin tones on the beard area on side of the face so it doesn’t become so harsh.

Love the shirt as well, I always think it is really hard to paint vertical folds. You got some tips for vertical folds that to share?

Great work,

Magnus Fagerberg

Thank you all for your appreciament. I will post you other photos as soon as possible.
I was thinking to make the leather jacket in a reddish tone, what's your opinion?
For Magnus: first of all I made the lights and shadows on the horizontal plains considering the classic zenithal light, from almost black for the lower side and light green for upper side.
I used the white only for the high highlights.
Then I worked on the vertical lines.

The photos look pretty damn good to me! Love the fleshtones. Being as how I'm getting back into this now, do you mind sharing your mixes?

Jim Patrick

For the fleshtones I have used my usual mix, here's to you:
Base
Titanuim white
Gold ochre
Burnt sienna
Terra rosa

Shadows
Terra rosa
cobalt blue
burnt sienna
Van dick brown

Highlights
flesh tint
cobalt blue
naples yellow
titanium white

Looking good Marco.I'm sure that the pics don't do your work any justice.

Stephen

Update. After a close study on the eyes I was looking for a more defiance look with that challenging smile, so I decided to position them in the half upper right, it wasn't an easy work but I hope you like it.

Marco, great idea with the eyes, to me it gives him a certain devious and calculating look, I like it. Also like what you've done so far with the jacket.

Cheers Ken
