My feeling :
I will be very hard.
Where did our favorite magazine go?
It's getting worse, too small photos, outrageous colors.
Errors in legends (new MM example)
To want to please the maximum of world (traditional figurines, fantastic ...) one does only dissatisfied ones.
In short, without interest and expensive.
It's sad !
But that's only my opinion.
This being the case, all the magazines of the group have really dropped in quality (Wingmaster, Steelmaster ...)
Magazines take over happily:
SOLDIER, AIRPLANES ...

I feel exactly the same as you gentlemen! Figurines used to be the benchmark of the French speaking figure world, now for me it is next to useless. For me it ended with issue 113, I got a couple of the new ones because of my running subscription and threw them away. Sadly they don't seem to know where they are heading for!

Print magazines are sliding everywhere..the scale modelling offerings have fallen of late..military modelling...after trying to diversify. The problem is pretty simple..small market, aging audience...even with the broader spectrum of articles, Figurine is likely given hardly a glance by young people. The military genre is an old guy supported segment vs fantasy and sci fi as comes from gaming. Trying to be all things to all fails, but then the old person market is shrinking..it’s the same with scale modelling, slot cars...amongst traditional guy hobbies ...

Indeed...there is no joy in decline..much as I now prefer my books on a reader, I still favour magazines and aide memoire stuff in hard copy. A pile of good magazines is satisfying

And on top of that they don't care much for customers. Last year I took a one year description because a free figure a Neelan from the Walking Dead was offered. I got my 4 issues of Figurine but never saw the figure. I have emailed them several times concerning the matter, through an adres I found on their website, but never got any reply! Won't renew my subscription, that's for sure. Personally I would like to see a magazine focusing on the modelling and painting of fantasy, science fiction figures, etc.. I a whole range of scales like 28mm to even maybe 1/2nd busts. Written in English would be the easiest, but it can also be done in French, Spanish, German or Dutch for my matter. Unfortunately it seems to be impossible to have such a magazine, in digital or printed form. Long live the forums I would say.

Cheers,

Gino

I agree that Figurines died with issue 113.

The new publisher honoured the rest of my subscription and I renewed it to give it a chance. My last issue was 118 and then a letter came asking me to renew, I threw it away and then issue 120 just appeared out of the blue. Unfortunately I too think it's lost much of it's character and my needs are better served by digital magazines on my iPad - Soldatini International, Illustrated Historical Artist and the excellent Figure Painter Magazine.

I've no need for Figurines anymore, the complementary figures aren't as good as in the past and the uniform articles are very light complared to the original incarnation (though I've an adequate library of my periods of interest anyway).

The World is changing and I'm doing fantasy pieces now which I never touched before, I just hope that the youngsters turn to historical in turn.

Cheers

Gino:

Similar experience. Last year, I took the one year subscription asking it to start specifically with the World Expo (Chicago) issue. They told me my subscription would start with the next issue. I sent several follow up emails and the only response I received was for me to refer to their previous email!!!! They did state I could get copy of the World Expo issue for an additional 19euros. And like you I didn't receive any figure.

Buy The Illustrated Historical Magazine.
What you want is there. It's only digital.

Do not forget for Historical figurinist:
Heimdal Edition
"SOLDAT"

I prefer the books myself which are an excellent reference source. I'm looking forward to the next 2 - The second volume of the Imperial Guard Cavalry and the Artillery. I hope they produce on on line cavalry too, especially as Histoire & Collections went bust before volume 3 of the dragoons was published along with promised volumes on Light and Line Infantry.

Cheers
