Greetings
Bit quick of the mark there young Kev.
Yes this is my next release. This completes phase 1. of Mick's Mick's The four Irish Cavalry Regiments.
Kettle Drummer 4th ( Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards 1884
I dated him 1884 to allow the option of having a Black over white plume but this changed to white in 1885.
the medals are:- The Egypt Medal with Clasp TEL-EL-KEBIR & The Khedive’s Star

A Pair of Kettle Drums will be made available as an add on to the kit along with another arm to give the impression of playing.
when we receive the Bust & Drums we need to have a good look at how to marry the Drums to the Bust without detracting from the bust for those that just want the bust.
If that makes sense.
Details of Price and Release date will be made in the very near future.
Hope you like him.

Hi Kev,
No the Uniform stayed the same, only the Plume for the Kettle Drummer changed in 1885 from Black over White to White. and the Sword belt changed to the 1885 pattern.
Also the pouch belt changed from a straight leather belt to a slightly curved one but that wont show on the bust.

The horses were not, in this period, the heavy Clydesdale types that are used by today’s Household Cavalry regiments. Although piebald horses tended to be popular some regiments preferred white, brown or black horses.

By the end of the century, white horses were used by the 1st, 5th and 6th Dragoon Guards and the Royal Scots Greys.

Bays were used by the 2nd and 4th Dragoon Guards and the remainder used piebalds.

There were variations however. At one point the Greys had a black horse as did the 7th Dragoon Guards. In many cases the drum horse became a beloved mascot of the regiment as in the Greys whose white dappled horse may have been the most famous, known as “Plum Duff”.

Happy days

Just to make things clear. I do not intend to commission a horses head to go with this bust. If it is felt that a head, tail , legs or any other part of Drummer or the horses anatomy is requred please feel free to add it has a conversion.
I have also asked Palo not to publish any more photo's until the work is complete and I am ready to release.
Thank you
Mick

I’d be saying the flurry of excitement was more measure of support than anything else..makes sense to wait for the final version..what’s nice about the series as you have managed it, the relative affordability..simplicity...and freedom to go beyond should one wish.
