Hi Mark, thanks mate. This was a figure I've wanted to do ever since it came out and it's a real buzz to be working on it. As always I appreciate your comments my friend.
Hi Rob, thanks very much for your comments mate. Yeah I am prolific by your standards
, but there are some guys on pF who make me feel very lazy (you know who you are!!
). I'm pleased to hear you've decided to switch to acrylics after so long as an enamels painter. There are some very important changes to the way you paint with acrylics compared to enamels, but I have no doubt you'll work them out.
I'm very pleased you find my SBS's useful and informative. It's my small way of sharing my passion for my hobby with others, and repaying all the help I've received from other modellers over the years.
Hi Don, yep a very light dusting of talcum powder is just the thing to create a very subtle amount of texture on a painted surface like a 54mm tartan. It's a tip I picked up from my modelling mentor Phil Walden many years ago, and it works a treat. The talc is too fine to obliterate the details and it disappears entirely when you add the colour wash.
G'day Paul, yep this figure was on my "bucket list" too mate.
The casting on my version was excellent, mould lines were minimal and virtually no flash. The parts go together easily and the sculpting is outstanding, as you'd expect from Latorre. I can't wait to see what a master painter like yourself will do with this figure. Thanks for your comments on my version.
Hi Carl, thanks mate I'm glad you like the tartan and the flesh tones. I'll be adding a series of oil washes to the figure soon to darken it up. Just have to do the socks and the gaiters. Thanks always for your encouragement.
