Thanks Andrew! I'm having fun with it. It's nice to discover a little window into history like this. Before I read the book, I had no idea of the existence of this small unit and its influence on not just the western desert in WW1, but WW2! Can you imagine - less than 30 officers, volunteers and reservists mapped most of Libya? And one officer with help from civ geologists and a few staff compiled a report of accessible roads, trails, passes, dangerous sand areas so valuable that it was classified immediately.
