Daniel I painted the red with acrylic Vallejo paint. If it is a small area like the plume, epaulettes and sword knotsI find I can use acrylic. I used flat red with a little green. The extra highlight was scarlet.(y)

Thanks for your advice David.
I am working on a French regiment of the American revolution,Regiment de Touraine, and their facins are "pink",so i tried some mix in Vallejo Salmon Rose, dab of Carmine red and little green, works excellent!,never thought of adding green to it.
Best regards

Daniel, take a look at a colour wheel and the use of complimentary or the 'opposite' colour that will if added to the base colour reduce it's strength or value without making it change colour, for example, adding brown to a yellow to 'shade' it is so wrong as yellow doesn't turn into brown when it gets darker. Instead the colour wheel will show a purple should be added! Try it and see!!:D

I bet Einion would know a lot abut this!!!:notworthy:

Ther's a very good book called 'Blue and Yellow Doesn't make Green' . It explains the physics of it all.
