Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with great pleasure that we can finally officially announce the first Lone Star Figure Show to be held in Dallas, Texas. The show will be held March 30th and 31st at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. The hotel is located just off of I-35, and is easily accessible from both DFW Airport and Love Field, as well as close to the Downtown attractions such as the Dealy Plaza and the famous Sixth Floor Museum. The show will be held in combination with two workshops, one on painting and the other on sculpting and converting figures. The workshops will begin on Thursday the 29th and wrap up on Friday the 30th prior to the official show opening.

We are proud to present the world famous painter Julio Cabos as our instructor for the painting workshop, with assistance of Doug Cohen, will share his painting techniques with the participants.

Julio will also perform painting demonstrations at the Andrea Miniatures trade stand on Saturday during the show.

The sculpting workshop will be instructed by Anders Heintz and will cover converting figures as well as getting started sculpting your very own original figures.

Bill Horan will be the shows guest speaker sharing his techniques and philosophies on modeling original 54mm figures.

The Lone Star Figure Show will be judged with the OPEN system. What this means is that there are no 1st, 2nd or 3rd prizes. Each artist will be judged and awarded according to their current level of proficiency, no one will receive an award at the cost of another artist.

There will be many interesting Special Awards with fun prizes, as well as both a judges Best of Show and a Peoples Choice Award.

A tenative schedule for the show will be available soon.

Room rates at the show hotel will be $99 per night. To make your reservations call 1-800-468-3571 and make sure you mention the Lone Star Figure Show to get the special show rate. You can also use the following link for easy reservations online

Thanks everyone for your support so far! It is already shaping up to be quite the event.

Nice work Alex on the special awards! We are going to have some nice prizes as well as some fun special awards.

We are also working on our standard awards, we have something quite special in the works, something different, thats for sure!

Thank you Gordy for your help and your support, we appreciate it!

The workshops are starting to fill up. The opportunity to sit and paint with Julio Cabos doesn't come around very often so reserve your seat today!

Make sure you check out the website as well, we have a list of area attractions posted. There are quite a few interesting things to experience here in Dallas, a visit to the Dealey Plaza and the site of JFK's assassination is a must while here!

I just signed up for the sculpting workshop, it's great to have this in Dallas!

Also, this hotel is right in the parking lot of the Dallas Market Hall. I go down there a couple times a year for RV and boat shows and checked to see what'll be there during the figure show. Looks like the Texas Motorcycle Expo on the 31st, so if you're into bikes it might be worth it to take a peek at what they've got.

Hi, guys!
I just wanted to express my congratulations to the organizers of the show. The artists and plainning couldn't be better. Really glad to see how this kind of experiences are spreading in the States. These events are good for learning, good for making new friends and good to the general expansion of our beloved hobby.
Well done mates!(y)(y)(y)

Damn Jim,
Don't you hate it when life gets in the way? Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to this show this year, but I wish the best for this new show. It appears it will be a dusey! And I can tell you, I am envious of those who will be there.
Pete

Best of luck with your show guys... I wish I could come but its just too far away...
