(Title should say 1/16 or 120mm…)

Hi All,

For the next 1/16 figure in the qeue I’m looking to fill an empty corner with Soviet accessories. Ideally, a Maxim gun, but anything with a bit of bulk will do.
Any suggestions or pointers highly appreciated, thanks!

Cheers
Adrian

Steve has a few Soviet items, not sure exactly what you want, but you could make one or two rifle stacks maybe? He does do a Vickers, which would convert fairly easily to a Maxim. You just need to turn the toggle lock through 180, the Maxim moves down for unlocking, the toggle lock of Vickers moves up. Thinking about it, just have a blanket or similar over the rear and no work needed.

Thank you for your responses Steve and Richie!

This is the figure in the qeue:

I needed something to breathe Barbarossa. After lots of googling I set my mind on a Maxim. The figure can then be posed as overrunning a Soviet position.

Complication turns out to be Jeff Shiu’s figures are bigger than 1/16, but through PM I now found a very similar Maxim; 3D-printed to the scale of Jeff.

Thanks for the links, very helpful! I noted Steve sells Soviet ammo belts…that may be useful.

The MG34 is clearly 1:15 scale. Unfortunately, the difference with 1/16 is rather noticable. I tried to replace the head with one from Alpine Miniatures, or one from Steve Reedees’, but they are true 1:16 scale and look too small.

Since the machine gun will be a seperate item, not connected to the figure, I think one could get away with using 1:16, but now that I know it would be out of scale my pedantic mind is only appeased by a dedicated 1:15 print I’m afraid… :)

Thanks for pointing out that site. They have some interesting stuff.

Hi Adrian,
Yes the difference will be very noticeable as you said. The only other option if your heart is set on a maxim is contact
the supplier who does the 3d prints and see if you can get a custom size print. The only other company I remember off the top
of my head that done 1/15 was Verlinden and Frontline Miniatures.

It's obviously misleading the info. on the picture you put up of the figure you want to do. As 1/16 is the scale and 120mm is the size.
You would expect the weapons and equipment in 1/16 which they are not and the figure size at 120mm.

I guess he should rebrand all his work as 1/15 to save confusion.

Good luck anyway, I have had the very same issues in 1/35 scale of late.
cheers
Richie

These are some really nice products and links Woods, thanks.
I found the Tahk one while Googling, but understood it was sold out.
I didn’t know New Order Model Design, but their stuff looks nice.

In the meantime I have a 3d-printed Maxim coming my way. Looking forward to that!

Thanks all, for your help and suggestions!

Cheers
