OK Planeteers, I'm looking for a particular figure. I don't know the manufacturer or scale as I have only seen it in a picture, and have since forgoten where!!! I don't know if anyone is familiar with the French comic book charactres Asterix & Obleix (Sorry spelling may be a bit botched there!). I saw a figure of a guy that looked just like what I would imagine Obleix would look like as a realistic/non-cartoon figure. He is the big tall barrel shapped (fat) viking with huge blue and white stripped pants pulled up practically under his arms, no shirt and red hair in braids. He is the "muscle" to Asterix's small character.

I am a fan of this comic book since my childhood in Quebec, and I would love to be able to get ahold of the figure I saw. I hope you guys can help. Any leads would be most appreciated! Worst case scenario, I saw a flat of the actual comic book characters from a Euro show some time ago, does anyone know of this one? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer! :)

Hey Jay,

Not sure if this is the fig you seek, but EL VIEJO DRAGÓN has one called The Indomitable Gaul (EV1201). Look at the following link then Serie C120:
El Viejo Dragon

Hope it helps.

Hello Jay,
if it is this miniature you must know that the orignal Obelix from the comic book
images

is diffent to the the figure from El viejo dragon.
The Obelix from el viejo dragon shows Gerard Depardieu, a french actor, in the film Asterix & Obelix.
But aside of that the figure is very nice and cleanly casted in resin. The scale is 120mm.

Regards
Frank

Brandy and Guy, what would I do without you two! You are "good apples"! Come to the front of the class and get a treat out of the prize bowl. That's exactly what I was looking for!
Frank, thanks for the info, I didn't even realize that a movie had been made of this comic. I do wish the figure looked a bit less like Gerard, and a bit more like Obelix from the comics, but beggars can't be choosers! I think I'm going to try and get ahold of this one!!!!!

Thanks all,

Jay H.
