From Lots of models facebook page. They have bought Verlinden masters and their original painted figures.

I remember when this news came out back in September (note the date in the Facebook post above).

Anyone go to Lots of Models' site and have a look? I did, and ran a search on "verlinden". That returned 92 pages of results, from books to kits. I can't tell from their catalog pages, though, whether the kits are newly released or existing stock from before Verlinden's demise.

I don't know if you can use the page URL: https://www.lots-of-models.com/search?q=*verlinden* or if you'd just have to run a fresh search, but you can try and have a look there.

As far as prices go, I haven't noticed much change in the prices of items I look for on eBay (1/48 figures, 1/35 diorama pieces), but they were already relatively pricey, in my opinion.

Prost!

They are asking silly money for built and painted verlinden stuff. However Brad is right, they are not exactly competitive price wise on general stuff.

As usual, the biggest kick is the ‘import charge’, from America.

Verlinden: Great stuff in its day and without a doubt the hobby wouldn't be what it is today without the Man Himself.

Fact remains though that the company rested on its laurels for years and never kept pace with changes, and although a few figures might still pass muster, the majority now look like what they are: relics from a bygone age. Also a lot of the resin & etch conversion & detail sets for plastic kits were a notoriously poor fit and in many cases inaccurate. Unless it's about perceived "collectability" or maybe sentimentality & nostalgia, I don't understand why people would still be interested in buying Verlinden now, especially at the premium prices a lot of sellers seem to be asking.

I agree with what you’re saying, Verlinden had its time, and has long been surpassed by other companies especially when it comes to quality.

However, I feel Verlinden’s 1/15th AFV, range still has some legs. Purely because of the limited choice of kit that’s available in this scale from other companies. As an example the “Bren carrier, or the Stuart light tank, amongst others have never been manufactured by other firms, and so remain to be the only choice. The same goes for its Napoleonic gun limbers, and canon. So in this respect they tend to hold value. Granted I also see the ridiculous price that some are trying to sell this stuff for and it makes me wince.

The 1/48 aircrew figures fill a niche in the market, too. Though they're a little on the small side, compared to other makers' 1/48 figures. But they work very well to display alongside an aircraft model, and provide a sense of the size of the machine.

Prost!

Practically all of the Verlinden kits and figures are dated now and some of the recent figures don't look as good as during Verlinden's "Golden Age."

There are indeed some extremely rare OOP Verlinden figures out there such as the "1/16 Cyborg Hunter," "1/16 Desert Storm Stinger SHORAD and Dragon Gunners," "1/16 S.W.A.T. and Weapons Set," etc. Scour the internet and one can't find these kits for sale anymore, so I wonder how "rare is rare" when the molds have been purchased, and which molds.

I'd be very interested in Lots-of-Models can recast and sell some parts individually as a Weapons or Gear set without the figure. That way one can equip another 1/16 figure with Verlinden parts.

The Cyborg Hunter was i believe a special edition i've been looking out for one for years and have not seen one for sale anywhere..

Lol...This is where i have to put my money where my mouth is...:)

Hi Felix,

I'll PM you shortly to discuss if this kit is for sale etc...

Regards Ian

Yes, that Verlinden 1/16 Cyborg Hunter has parts specific to it.

If Lots-of-Models has the molds and sells that figure and the spare parts, I'd buy eight of that gun, made no where else (it's a kitbash of Verlinden gun). Now that modern military 1/16 figures have rifle scopes one can "trick out" that Cyborg gun with IR laser designator, flashlight, scope, etc. One can also add aftermarket radios, pouches, and newer gear to the Cyborg Hunter. There just aren't many 1/16 Sci-Fi figures out there for sale besides Modern Army in Miniatures' cyborgs.
