Some very useful pics of the uniform from the net and from an old issue of Military Illustrated. You can see the lengths the Mollo brothers went to to recreate the 11th's uniform for the 1968 film "Charge of the Light Brigade," only to have director Tony Richardson decide that the whole five regiments of the brigade should be clad in cherry pantaloons because they looked prettier. I am comfortable using the recreated uniform worn by Alan Dobie as a source.

And here is a shot of the hussar busby and chin scales from the Windrow and Greene book.

Dunn resigned his commission and left the Crimea, running off with his Colonel's wife. Colonel Douglas was a well known martinet and a favourite of Lord Cardigan, having supported him during the infamous Reynolds and "Black Bottle" affairs. It is known that Cardigan hated Indian Army officers. It can only be imagined what he had to say about the Lieutenant from Canada who cuckolded his Colonel. Right out of Flashman!

Here are a couple of portraits of Col. Douglas. Mike French did a super portrait of him several years ago.

I still have this one :)

Lucky you Ron. Grey army or painted? I recall seeing a great version by Bill Horan in his first book. :)

Colin

Oh its been painted since its first emergence on the market and is on a very old fashioned base , but I glued it on so tight I will never get it off without total destruction , could take a cold chisel to it I suppose

Looks awesome!
Always amazed at the speed at which you work... both with putty and paint.

Following along. Look forward to seeing it at the next meeting

Colin

Thanks Nap - here is tonight's status.

Busby fur is Liquitex Pro bottled acrylic. Base and two highlights added so far. The busby bag is showing a little too scarlet in the photo due to white balance correction in the camera. It needs to be British cherry/crimson.

New cap lines added from thicker cord, rolled in matte varnish to flatten out the loose strands.
