I was recommended to look at this forum and so far am impressed. I wonder if anyone can tell me if they know of a figure model which could be easily adapted to make a medic from the british army at Lucknow, India, 1857. (any scale). The reason is that I want to attempt a diorama of the winning of the a Victoria Cross by Assistant Surgeon William Bradshaw, a distant relative of mine.

Thanks

It is a small world William Bradshaw is one of the Irish VC Winners, I plan to model at some stage as I bulid up a collection of these brave men.

I recently made a figure of another Irish VC winner, Surgeon Major Reynolds VC of Rourkes Drift fame. I pictured him immediately after the action.

I used some adapted Historex parts and a Pegaso head which came closest to his likeness.
The figure was modelled in waistcoat and collarless shirt, sleeves rolled up and an apron on. I think it looks the part and would certainly allow you to make this tribute to your ancestor without a major headache.

Remember, a lot of officers had uniforms made by local tailors forsaking the issue woollen garments, and also as the seige progressed even these uniforms probably gave way to civillian clothes.

If I can be of any assistance please let me know, it would be a priviledge to help with your project.

Thanks for the help offer. What a co-incidence too!

I have done a bit of research and agree that the uniforms may have been mix and match. Also, as a non-combatent, I suspect there was not a strict working uniform and he most probably would have been in a plain white cotton outfit. I have seen one "picture" of the action which I need to get a copy of, obviousy done some time later, but whether it is from first hand accounts or just a good guess is not clear, but it does show a sort of white outfit.

And also, they didn't make a film about mine !!!!

I have attached a photo of Reynolds to illustrate what I mean
