Hi, Guys,

This is my take on the new 200mm 'Mad Hatter' figure from Creepytables.

For a colour scheme I decided not to ape the Depp film versions as they're a bit clownish. Instead I wanted to show something grounded in reality, if somewhat eccentric. He is after all suffering from mercury poisoning....

I toyed with the idea of decorating the teapot with a Cheshire Cat grin, or similar, but decided on a single strong colour in the end, with tonal variations, since there's such a lot going on with the figure itself.

Pince-nez style spectacles were included but I decided not to use them as I think they detracted from the 'crazy eyes.'

Should add there’s a bust version available but I think those goofy legs are what make the character work.

Cheers!

Rob

Hi Robbo

Nice artwork there , he certainly looks slightly eccentric, like the overall painting but particularly the way you’ve done the hat

Great start to the year

Looking forward to seeing more

Have FUN @ the bench

A great subject and very nicely executed, well done! This is full of character and I think you made the right decision leaving off the pince-nez.

is that figure from a story ore something??? just asking,it's not important, but very nice painted (y)

Epic Robbo, actually watch Alice through the looking glass the other day, spooky, or not! Anyhow cracking figure and a lovely paint job. Have to agree with Mel that is Keir Starmer to a T.

Cheers Simon

That seems to be a frequent situation with the bust / figs I want to purchase. As a consequence, if I see something of interest (such at pF) I buy it right away. The ranks of the gray army grow, but I have them.
I guess my children will have to figure out what to do with any unpainted, someday...
