Those early issues of MI were something else, really. There was real historical research stuff going on in that mag, and really allowed you to think there was cutting edge material in there. For me, that magazine got me interesting in things I just never imagined being interested in.

Sad that there is nothing out there that reaches that now.

Still have the first 50 or so MI's close at hand.

Hi Rob

Unfortunately for me, I got into the figure side of things a little late for magazines of MI’s kind, so for me the ability to be able enjoy such intense research, is kind of a part of history in its self, what I mean is I now have to research articles that were researched previously(and so on), but thats where new tools such as the internet and websites such as this, are the possibly the best tools around. But ironically I still have to print the articles out to read them properly, because I’m on a computer all day, every day, coming home and using one would kill my eyesight....

I suppose my point is, what has been lost in printed research, has in essence been transfered to the internet, so the information is still out there, just in a different place.... :)

Over the years I have learned that any era that doesn't interest me in the slightest at the moment will become a passion the week after I dispose of references. I only buy 2 modelling magazines and so keep them all - it is amazing looking back 10 - 15 years at just how much things have improved in terms of quality and diversity of subject - but also just how many firms have went to the wall.
