Hi all,
First post here, here's my current figure sculpt in progress. It's of a sci-fi character called Magenta.

Thanks Gordy. I'm using super sculpey firm (the gray kind that comes in a box). Mine is a bit old so I mix some sculpey diluent when I knead it, otherwise it just cracks.

Have you tried the Super Sculpy Studio ? I'm growing to really like it, it is a lot tougher and cracks less, I can do a whole 54mm head in under 30 minutes (minus the ears and hair) where as mix putty 1/2 day with a bake once in a while..

Ooh, it's the first time I'm hearing about Super Sculpey Studio, I haven't seen it in the shops here in Singapore. I checked their website and it says they're gonna be discontinued? http://www.sculpey.com/products/clays/studio-sculpey
Bummer.
One of the problems I've had with sculpey firm is that it's brittle after baking. Possibly from not baking long enough?

Thanks guys.
More updates, I did a test fit to see how the arms look with the figure. Here's the result:

I feel the upper torso is too wide and gives a different feel to the figure especially when compared to the original sketch. It's makes her too top heavy. So I'm considering to do some major surgery on the upper torso, but I'm gonna let this sit for a day while I work on the various accessories.
What do you guys think, does she look a bit manly with the wide shoulders/torso?

thanks for the feedback.

Janus: Magenta is a sci-fi character based on an original design by Illustrator Ray Toh. A young somewhat stocky asian oriental teenager, she lives in a post apocalyptic almost alien environment.

Carl: I'm sculpting her in 1/20 scale, but since she's only 5 foot 2 inches tall, the final figure height will be about 75 mm

The accessories are taking longer than expected. Will post more updates soon.

head = hard

Sculpted and resculpted the head, it's my 6.5th attempt, the helmet however proved to be relatively straightforward and enjoyable.
