I know that heating the resin part up in the oven will soften it back up, but will it work if you microwave it? If so, for how long?

The micro will work also to soften it up. The amount of time would depend on how much you put in the microwave. I'd put it in for a few seconds at a time and just keep checking it until it gets soft.
